Phil and Lorraine Dolsen's story of cruising from Grand River, OH to Georgetown, Bahamas and back Sept 2010 to May 2011
There were a few boats with us that drew 6' and they didn't have any problems, just one or two bumps as they passed through the soft bottom. I did hit a coupe of small branches underwater but nothing to worry about. Watch the entrance to the Alligator river as a couple of boats did run aground there but did not need to be towed off. They just backed off. I don't believe they were waching the daymarks they were watching the chartplotter and not paying attention to the water.
