Update on House

Last weekend we signed a concurrency contract for an offer on the house. That means the couple who wants to buy our house has to sell their house in Euclid by June 29. It also means that we keep the house active on the listing service open for offers and be able to be released from this contract if we get and want to accept another offer from someone else. We would do this if they were ready buyers (no house to sell) and they offered an acceptable price. So I feel that we're lucky to have this offer - pray for them to be able to get the offer on their house they can accept soon so that we can move onto the boat and then be able to save the mortgage money for the cruising kitty.

In the meantime, we are waiting for the contractor to come fix the gutters on the house from the damaged that happened from the ice this winter. I'm still at school with the Nursing Assessment for Experience Nurses online with 4 weeks left in this session. Phil is busy either working on his new dinghy or getting Changes ready for putting in the lake. Need some warmer weather for the work on Changes to continue.

My hired date for my new position has been pushed back to April 19 to allow more time for the transition. I'm looking forward to starting this new position!

Update house and school

Hi, Since we weren't able to go sailing this fall, I'll start updating on what we are doing currently. I've started back to school - taking an online RN-BSN program at Jacksonville University in - you guessed it - Jacksonville, FL. I had registered for 2 online nursing classes - but decided after spazzing last Tuesday, to drop the Nursing Assessment class - lets me get use to taking an Online Course. So now Phil is cooking supper during the weekdays which enables me to get to studying most evenings by 630pm. He calls me with questions during the afternoon- and then cooks the food. It's good and I appreciate his support very much. I took the first 2 exams (10 pts each) and averaged 85%. Ok to start. So I have 2 more exams this week and next week the big Nurses Role exam. I'm focusing on the NP (Nurse Practitioner) role, since that's what I want to do. I'm lucky that I have some NP's I interact with at work an have scheduled a meeting with one on Friday to interview her. Also due in the course is my Philosophy of Professional Nursing paper and a teaching plan.

We had an open house on Sunday - and were happy that 3 groups of people came. It seems that it's not right for them, but there is another couple that's waiting for the bank to give them a loan, and so I'm hopeful that will work out. We were lucky that it didn't snow and everyone was able to get up the driveway. :) The hits of people viewing our house went up on the web site has increased since the start of 2010, so that's good too.

Phil started building a J-14 ice boat this past fall. So when I am studying in the evenings, he is working on his ice boat. It is so cold here that he has started bringing few parts in the house so the epoxy can harden. Also seems that he needs to paint some parts - so will check out doing it in the attic. My theory is that warm air rises, and if he paints on the 3rd floor, that the fumes won't have to rise through the whole house, so I'm hoping that will keep the air quality good. That's my theory and I'm sticking to it.

Waiting for the House to Sell

Our realtor stopped by today.  Good news and bad news.  Good news is that there are 6 houses in the Chardon zip code that are in the same price range that we are.  The bad news is that there are over 200 houses for sale.  I think that it's also good news that the majority of them are priced higher than our house.  There are people that are interested in buying, but have to sell their house, so she thinks that when it gets to be the Sept/Oct - that people will realize that the $8,000 tax credit is going to disappear Dec 1 (i think) and they better buy a house.  She think houses will sell like dominoes - I hope she's right.  I do feel better after her visit.  Like I told Phil, if it's meant for us to go cruising, the house will sell.     Our realtor did mention that there are several houses that have a contracts on a contingent basis - and many of these are short sells - which means that they are offering less than the outstanding loan on the house, so the banks has to approve these types of contracts.  

My friend Debbie N. says that I should bury Saint Thomas by my front door with his feet towards the road.  Anyone have a Saint Thomas statute???  just kidding.
